Dr. Katrin Giere

Katrin is an associate lawyer at DUNKEL RICHTER. She also assists Prof. Dr. Stephanie Schiedermair as a member of the Commission to Review and Determine the Financial Requirements of the Broadcasting Organisations (KEF).

She works primarily in media law, specialising in press law and the law of expression. A particular focus is on hate speech. Katrin further advises on social media and cyber bullying matters, in the area of image and photo law as well as copyright and intellectual property law.

Katrin studied law at the University of Leipzig and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She completed her dissertation in the area of fundamental rights of communication and social media during her employment at the Chair of Public Law and Media Law of Prof. Dr. Hubertus Gersdorf at the University of Leipzig. This was followed by her legal traineeship, also in Leipzig.

She is a member of the German Women Lawyers’ Association (djb).
